Untitled #8 (Poem)

I am an aesthetic

I entice thee

But only by appearance

I portray perfection

Beauty, Intelligence,

And some quirks to make me human

I am a performer

I choose my words carefully

I play with mystery

My character is passive

Leaving the audience pondering

And dropping those that get too close

I am not myself

Yet I control the illusion

I reflect an image

The girl next door

That woman from a perfume advert

oozing sexual confidence

I pretend to be authentic

Lacking all character development

Lost in the persona I created

But now I am running out of scripts

My lines fall short of credibility

But I am the writer of this play

And my big exit draws near
