People In Public Places

Movements of London

This shows the busy streets and underground of London, people are constantly moving and travelling around the city. The shots attempt to capture the way people interact within the city, the avoidance and distance people try to have whilst being in crowded and confined areas. There is a sense of isolation in the images as there is little attention given to the viewer from the people captured by the photographer. The people appear so caught up in their desire to reach their destinations that they don't notice the photographer.

People in Kew Gardens

Despite Kew Gardens being a large open space, there were many areas which were busy with people like the streets of London. Although this comes with a very different feel from the streets, amongst nature the people appear much more friendly and connected to each other. Some people knew each other with many greetings going on, as well as children meeting and playing amongst nature. If there were no planes flying over, you could forget you were in the city. There is a clear divide between the business focussed London streets and the more leisurely pace of the park.
