Françesca Alessandro is a conceptual artist who strives to place meaning in every aspect of her work even down to her name. Françesca meaning Free and Alessandro meaning defender of man, she aims to create work that will make the viewer contemplate it’s meaning and rethink how they view gender and many other tough subjects. Alessandro uses many of her personal experiences to create powerful images showing emotion and strength, by becoming Model and Photographer she is able to produce work that envelops every detail of her concept. In her painting Alessandro uses textures and layers, as the layers are applied a story is created through her work. For many years Alessandro tried to create photorealist paintings before finding her own style of abstract conceptual art, a stark contrast from the world of photorealism. She continues to refine her techniques, and although she has been inspired by the works of Francesca Woodman and Gregory Crewdson, she draws more information and inspiration from art theory which allows her to build and break rules.
